Coastside Physio commenced trading in February 2023 and is run by Physiotherapist Gregg Mathews. Gregg began working in health in 2015 at The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane QLD working across the orthopaedic, neurorehabilitation, general medicine, geriatric evaluation and management, and intensive care unit wards. At the commencement of 2018 Gregg moved into private practice musculoskeletal, hydrotherapy, community and aged care work which ultimately led to him moving back at the start of 2019 to where he grew up here in the Port Macquarie-Hastings region. Gregg has provided treatment to Private, Medicare, Workers Rehabilitation, NDIS and DVA assisted clients in the Port Macquarie region since.
Clinical interest areas for Gregg include the neck and headaches (particularly migraines), shoulders, lower backs, knees and ankles. He has travelled to most Australian cities for professional development opportunities to become more skilled in treatment areas including tendon injuries, headaches, clinical pilates, dry needling, shoulder, hip, and knee conditions and sports taping. Gregg has personally rehabilitated himself from a fractured ankle and torn ligaments, a torn meniscus in his knee, a dislocated shoulder and 2 x lower back injuries that included lower limb referral symptoms. In addition Gregg has been a Migraine sufferer since a child, and has managed to reduce the frequency of attacks significantly since becoming a Physio.
Outside of work Gregg enjoys spending time with his family (including his wife Suzie and their 4 boys) and surfing. In his earlier life Gregg was once a reasonable athlete having won several individual regional titles and had the chance to compete in several team sports at the same level. Sports Gregg once participated in included long jump, high jump, 100m sprints, basketball, soccer, rugby, boxing and cricket.
